The Castle, Isleworth

Clearly once a multi-roomed pub, now opened up into one long room with a small area to the side and rear of the bar. There are a pool table and dartboard to the right of the bar, and a TV high on the wall. At the left end the pub has been extended by the addition of a conservatory. An outdoor drinking area is beyond here. Green banquette seating plus small armchairs at some tables. The carpet is green too. Very little in the way of interest decor wise, although there is a large framed print of an old map of the district above a fireplace. The welcome and service were first rate, however the pub seemed a little tired to me. Young's beers, just Ordinary Bitter and Special on.

I popped in here for a pint earlier this week and was greeted by the barmaid as If I had been drinking here for years, but it was my first visit - Fantastic. Youngs Ordinary and Special were available along with lots of lagers. The pub has high ceilings and is fairly open plan so it is not very cosy, especially when it is sparsely populated. The adverts playing through the speakers from the radio didn't help. The two seating areas outside are on either side of the car park which in turn is just off a reasonably busy road so it was a little noisy. I did spy a very small pool table in one corner of the pub and there is a small conservatory in the opposite corner (if my memory serves me correctly). Great service, but I didn't really find the actual pub to be anything special.
