Tucked away on a side street this is a compact little pub. Quite a basic interior but I don't mean that in a bad way. 3 real ales served from the central bar.

Compact and very traditional pub with several small seating areas to either side of the small servery. Busy - but not over-crowded - on a Thursday evening, with a good atmosphere. Three handpumps on the counter, offering Pride (£4.25), Tribute and Harvey's.

A very nice little boozer tucked away from the main drag,almost has a village pub feel about it. The beers were trending toward the ordinary end of the spectrum but my Harveys Sussex Best was a joy to drink,despite the unchallenging beer range I would be more than happy to return.

An attractive pub situated in a row of terraced houses in a side street, this is a proper locals pub for the area. The wood panelled and carpeted interior are charmingly dated and the place has the faded glamour of an early 1970’s gentleman’s club with a homely feel – no music and no TV on my visits, just conversation which can often stray from polite blandness. There’s usually three ales on (and they are usually Harveys, Pride and St Austell Tribute) in good nick. No food is offered – beer only. The locals are an eccentric bunch and a fair number seem to have an ex-military slant (the framed soldiers tunic in the pub presumably signifies some deeper military connection?). There are posters of former breweries annexed by Whitbread which is a point of interest for beer buffs. I do like this one and it’s worth seeking out for something a bit esoteric.
