Much the same as previous, now under the auspices of the EI Group. A little less "London backstreet" than my previous visit (I watched Slovakia knock Italy out of the 2010 World Cup here), the flooring is now bare-boarded around the bar area, save for a small area behind the bar's far right and a dining area to the left of the bar. Cosy window seating opposite the bar is now tall tables and stooled with a leather bench seat suitably raised too. Four ales - a house ale ("Uxbridge Arms Ale"), Sharp's Doom Bar, Fuller's London Pride and surprisingly Thornbridge Jaipur. A further bonus after ordering a pint of the latter was that "Ale Mondays" saw all pints of real ale £3.30 a pint. You don't look a gift horse in the mouth, but my pint was end of barrelly which was a big disappointment. There was a decent alt-indie soundtrack, but a little too loud. Sometimes its best to keep memories as they were and walk past, but at least this out-of-the-way, backstreeter is still going - and the Monday night ale offer (despite my experience) is worth a drop-in for this neck of the woods.

Tucked away on a side street this is a compact little pub. Quite a basic interior but I don't mean that in a bad way. 3 real ales served from the central bar.

This pub may date from around the 1830s but I'll bet was rebuilt in the 1920s/30s and is surrounded by tiny rabbit hutch terraced houses which go for around £3m!

Externally there are a few seats and benches and bullseye glass still comprises part of the windows. Inside it's very dated indeed and resembles either a village pub or something you might still find remaining down an East End back street with an interior as described below but also with a Formica-topped bar and pot gantry. All that was missing to complete the 1960s/70s time machine were some Toby jugs, horse brasses and a plastic Watney's Red Barrel keg on the bar.

The place features a proper old-school "Get outta mi [effing] pub!" landlady, service was efficient rather than friendly. The locals (no, not the locals who work for Goldman Sachs) were drawn from goodness knows where and were a maudlin bunch, all old enough to be my father; women were conspicuous by their absence.

Ales: Harvey's Sussex Best, St. Austell's Tribute and Fuller's London Pride which was ok, nothing more and cost £4.25 a pint (this is a very high rent area).

This isn't really my kind of place so I doubt I'll return, but I wish it all the best as the world would be all the worse without this type of establishment.
