This pub thoroughly deserves its 2011 GBG listing and my Bass was spot on.On entering the front door ,there is a modern stone floor and a seating area to the left with the bar to one side in the centre of the building.Beyond the bar is a pool table and this open plan area is bright with modern fixtures and flat screens.Upstairs there is a skittle alley and outside a good sized garden leading down to the River Avon.Inside there are several photos of the regular floods that have hit the pub over the years,while by the bar there is a complete set of Encyclopedia Brittanica no doubt used to settle pub quiz disputes before the advent of Google. A really friendly community boozer,very good value and a welcoming old school guv'nor mean that the White Bear will always get my custom when in Tewkesbury. There is a modern housing development between The White Bear and Ye Olde Black Bear with the charming road name Twixbears .
