Ian Mapp left this review about The White Bear

Ok - I wanted to really like it. As other have said, a real pub vibe with a high number of well oiled patrons. It was 5pm on a Sunday afternoon.

Five real ales on and several ciders. Most locals seemed to be on cider. I went safe with a Salopian Oracle. It looked dreadful. I gently asked if it was OK and the barmaid asked Ron. Ron said Yes. I did not want to argue with Ron.

Tried a second Uley Pigs Ear. Much better.

Thuck Phat left this review about The White Bear Inn

The White Bear is on the edge of Tewkesbury opposite a large Travis Perkins for navigation purposes.
The pub looks traditional from the outside but feels much more airy, light and modern than warm and cosy inside. It has flat screens, a modern pale floor and chrome and black bar stools as well as an inviting garden.
It's a friendly place and we were greeted at lunchtime by the landlord and most of the locals when we went in.
Four handpumps had on Bass, Northumberland Fog on the Tyne and Jolly Rogers and Cottage Morgan Plus 8. The Bass was top and the landlord says he gets through a barrel every two days or so it's a popular drink here. Fog on the Tyne was less good, possibly just the first one out that day, but Jolly Sailors slipped down well.
I'd certainly return for the welcome and the Bass.

This pub thoroughly deserves its 2011 GBG listing and my Bass was spot on.On entering the front door ,there is a modern stone floor and a seating area to the left with the bar to one side in the centre of the building.Beyond the bar is a pool table and this open plan area is bright with modern fixtures and flat screens.Upstairs there is a skittle alley and outside a good sized garden leading down to the River Avon.Inside there are several photos of the regular floods that have hit the pub over the years, while by the bar there is a complete set of Encyclopedia Brittanica no doubt used to settle pub quiz disputes before the advent of Google.
A really friendly community boozer, very good value and a welcoming old school guv'nor mean that the White Bear will always get my custom when in Tewkesbury.
There is a modern housing development between The White Bear and Ye Olde Black Bear with the charming road name Twixbears .
