Ye Olde Kings Head, Battle

Billed on BITE as Battle's premier pub, I found the place somewhat mediocre. Five hand pumps but only two beers didn't impress me at all. We struck up a conversation with the barman about the smoking ban in pubs, but at no point did he cotton on that the entire place was being gassed by the fumes from his dying open fire. Mind you, the same chap maintained the recent rise in beer prices was due to the brewery – he'd never heard of the budget or the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
