Canal-side pub whose main selling point must be the rear patio beer garden overlooking the waterway (although it was too cold to consider sitting outside when I happened to call by). Inside, it has been partly opened out to form a 'L'-shaped bar wit... [more>]

Unfortunately, the promise of the attractive ex-Charrington tiled façade isn't fulfilled inside. The interior has been totally remodelled and refurbished, just leaving a few original features such as the main window glazing. However, the gastro-pub... [more>]

Small, wedge-shaped pub with an upstairs lounge (never visited). Limited seating in the bar, most on bar stools at annoying high tables. As is almost compulsory in Camden, it hosts regular live music (but on a tiny stage in this case). One positiv... [more>]

Dropped by on the off chance Good Friday lunch time, it was packed, queuing at bar. I gave up and left. From what I saw on my very brief visit food looked fine, beer choice nothing special, location great May go again but not on a sunny Bank Holiday... [more>]

A fairly standard JDW with regards to the decor. A two level pub converted from a Co-op, hence the name. Good service at the bar and a good range of guest ales on the 10 handpumps made this pub stand out a bit from the JDW norm. Both pints I had were... [more>]
Harvester The Great Salterns Mansion Recommended by Michael Wright |
Visit was mid afternoon on Good Friday This place is very much a curate's egg. If you are familiar with Harvester chain you will know the routine regarding drinks, food etc, we are not, so all a bit bemusing. Staff were polite, friendly, helpful... [more>]

I was a bit concerned to find this closed at 6.30 on a Friday evening. All the pub/beer signs are still there though, so hopefully it's not a permanent situation.

Much as it was last time I was here, with a restaurant through an archway from the bar. There is also a small area with a pool table and games machines round the back of the bar. Even on a Friday night, the whole place was quite sedate with a mainly ... [more>]

When I last checked out the Golden Gloves on 5 April 2014, it was closed as reported, but called the Caledonia Bar with only part of the sign still there. Yesterday there was no sign and here is my photo as proof.

The pub is one large room with various seating sections and a pool table on the left of the entrance. The bar was over on the left as you enter, which was displaying four handpumps. I went for the Peerless Pale ale, which tasted awful, defo past its ... [more>]

Another well run pub in the centre of town. The manager and manageress were welcoming and friendly. The pub was built in the 17th Century and boasts a quaint front bar, which is central, also there was a real fire and oak beams. To the right of the e... [more>]

A stunning looking pub, situated next door to the church. The sort of pub I would like to sit in on a cold winters night supping away, whilst sat by the window watching the world go by. The pub was traditional in style as you might expect. You enter ... [more>]

A very busy tourist destination pub as you might expect. My recent visit brought back memories of trying to squeeze past people around the place, so nothing changed there. The pub is well kept and had 4 ales on, the usual GK suspects and a Liverpool ... [more>]

There were four ales on here – Adnam’s Mosaic, Sharp’s Doom Bar and Cornish Coaster (on special offer at £3 a pint) and South Town (£1.95 a half) which is an Adnam’s and Camden Brewery collaboration. The kitchen’s not in operation yet, but I’m sure s... [more>] |
