Large, high ceilinged Georgian type pub with 2 areas and apparently a tavern downstairs. Emphasis is obviously from the name on burgers. Chilled hipster type place, bare brick, stripped tables, hops on the windows. Looks like it is catering for a youth (student) market (though the price of the burgers must mean these students are supported well).

I may have been at a quiet time judging from reviews below as there was plenty of space.

Won't be everybody's taste but I found it a really good mix.

7-8 real ales of very good quality and choice.

Considering the other reviews

Now in the Good beer guide but im not so sure it deserves it. Ten hand pulls line the main bar which is welcoming to drinkers but this place is always so rammed its really not the sort of place to call for a beer especially as this is really a restaurant and everyone come here to eat. They do have a downstairs drinking area which i have not visited that is aimed at drinkers with five beers copied from the main bar. The selection is very good with micro brews from near and far with Oakham, Thornbridge, Blue monkey and Brewsters all usually having some of their beers on display. My pint of Thornbridge Pollards coffee milk stout was a nice kept pint but on the higher and at £3.50 but i suppose relativity good value when comparing it to a draught beer you would buy in a restaurant. The bar staff are not the frienliest and seem quite hustled and bustled and I can see a marked differance in quality from opening week to now a few years ;later, things have started to become slightly more slack and bad habbits have started to creep in with the bar being generally a bit messy/wonky broken pump clips, and some bad measures and so on, only minor stuff but it all adds up.

Really this should not beer in the guide in my opinion but if you are judging on beer quality alone it gets a thumbs up but you really only want to visit if out for a burger. That said the burgers are good and what better way to wash it down with a nice ale.

As Alan well describes, this is a very busy place, even on a Monday eve when we pop in around 9pm the place was packed. We also noticed their 10 hand pumps and tried the Blue Monkey Ape Ale and an Abbeydale Surreal. Prices were also steep at £3.50 a pint.
