Quod seems to be the Latin word for prison, but I can’t think why as I remember this being a branch of Barclays bank until the arrival of this place in the late ‘90s. I only popped in here because it’s not as expensive as I’d thought (though hardly cheap) and I needed a basic two-course meal.
The interior holds no surprises and can be viewed in 3D on their website. There are cream-coloured walls, with bare brick to the front wall, other walls decked with large contemporary artworks. Thereafter, furniture is modern and there’s a horseshoe-shaped bar where you can sit and drink cocktails, wine or (apparently) Old Hooky in bottles as there are no taps. Customers are professional types and affluent tourists.
I didn’t have a drink other than tap water, but plumped for the chicken, tarragon and leek terrine with sauce gribiche (£8.95) which was ok, but the gribiche was severely lacking in punch, thereafter the salmon and haddock fishcakes with tartare sauce (£18.95), again ok with very decent portions. Service was brisk to the point of being brusque; I got the impression that if I’d stayed a moment longer, I may have risked being thrown out.
This place could be ok for a cocktail bar but I couldn’t tell. The food isn’t bad and is charged at the going rate for the area; curiosity satisfied after 25-odd years.

Upmarket bar. Apparently offers Hook Norton ales in bottled form. I'd hate to think for what price though...
