Al Bundy left this review about The Kings Head

Horrible. A thoroughly hideous modern place. Single roomed with a nasty dark brown interior. Low seating consisting of sofas and armchairs. Handpulls dispensed Rosie's Cider. There's an upstairs bar but the ground floor one was enough for me. Go somewhere else.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Kings Head

The interior of this pub was modern and comfortable. The pub during the day, mainly attracts families. The pub attracts the younger crowd in the evening by offering shots and cocktails. There were four handpumps, with two in use offering up Bombardier and Courage.

This pub used to be called the Kings Head and it also used to be a Shipstones tied house.
This pub was opened out inside and had its name changed quite a few years ago,the pub gets very busy on weekend evenings but there are no real ales on here with only keg beers on the bar.

Pub first visited 1980

Old photo taken 23/6/1988

Update: This pub is now the Kings Head again, there are two pumps on the bar,one was Old Golden Hen,the other i did'nt note, the pub is quite smart inside with different drinking areas within one single room.
This is a lot different to the Kings Head of years ago which we went in most weeks,it used to to be one of the roughest pubs in Ilkeston.
