Tucked away in the back streets of Clifton between the village and the Whiteladies Road strip, this is a traditional pub from the local Dawkins chain, and is well worth making the effort to track down. It’s a fairly small pub internally, and was at one time presumably two rooms, but these have since been knocked in to one, although some walling has been retained to break up the space a little. First impressions weren’t great though, with a rather unpleasant odour as soon as we walked in. I presume they currently have some drainage problems and would hope that this wasn’t a permanent feature.

Décor wise it’s quite traditional, with rough wooden boards on the floor and cream plasterwork on the walls with pale blue painted wood panelling on the lower part of the walls. There was an old tiled fireplace off to the right, and this was surrounded entirely by a U-shaped wooden bench; perhaps serving a dual purpose enabling punters to sit around the fire, but also stopping any younger clientele wandering too close. A couple of large gilded mirrors were on the walls, as well as large blackboards detailing the extensive beer and gin selection. A very large pile of magazines was available to peruse and there was also a small TV up in the corner, although fortunately this was not in use on our visit. A few other bits and pieces were dotted around such as old copper trumpets, kettles, pans, whisky bottles and so on.

Beers on tap included five of their own – Bristol Blonde, Bristol Best, Easton IPA, Try! and Bristol Gold; four from Tiny Rebel - Orange Mocha Frapp Stout, Tai Chi, Honey Oat and Banana Wheat Ale and Clwb Tropicana; and these were joined by Goose Island IPA and GBC Kokomo. Ciders meanwhile were Orchard Pig Reveller and a couple from Presshead – Fire Starter and their regular still. All in all, a great pub.

The Victoria is a back street corner pub that is a short walk off Whiteladies Road.
Once inside this seemed like a proper pub with two small rooms that have been opened out, there is comfy bench seating and some normal tables and chairs.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Dawkins Bristol Blonde, which was a very nice drink, the other beers noted Dawkins Best,Dawkins Mosaic and one called Red Bear.
I thought this was a very pleasant pub to have a drink in.

A classic street corner pub with lots of original features and insignia of the Dawkins brewery,I thought it was a charming place to visit. The small interior is split into two sections around a small bar, with the handpumps on one side .The furniture is a mix of pews, benches and traditional chairs and tables, there is an original and working Victorian fireplace with two fine mirrors at either side of the interior. It wouldn't take many folk to fill up the inside, and there is a community feel with a regular quiz night .Pickled eggs and a selection of nuts complimented a choice from 6 handpumps, real cider and even some craft keg from Blue Moon and Tiny Rebel.Being a Dawkins house their ales will dominate and on my trip there was Bristol Best (served in a dimple, good nick ,classic best bitter),Bristol Blond ,Resolution IPA and Foresters Black ,with a single guest in Good Chemistry Solar Inpulse with a pump unused.Real ale pricing started at £3.90 which I thought was a little pricey given the location ,although there is a CAMRA discount on Dawkins ales. The welcome was friendly, and light muzak of Irish ballards was playing.A very relaxing place, authentic and if I lived closeby I would pop in regularly for a decent pint.In the 2016 GBG.
