A friendly and traditional town local, a welcome respite from corporateness. U-shaped round the central bar, with a large sports screen to one side. Four handpumps offered Malvern Hills Bitter, Wye Valley Butty Bach, Wadworth Horizon and St Austell Tribute and in good order (Cask Marque accredited).

This pub was very busy on a Wednesday Lunchtime, Maybe in part due to a decent well priced pub grub menu. Its a single room wrapped around a curved bar,low ceilinged with a carpeted floor and a black and white tiled standing area around the bar.Of note is an upstairs mini Cricket museum with lots of memorabilia to gaze at if this is your thing, its not particularly mine. The beer selection wasn't over exciting with Saddlers Peaky Blinder, Prescott Hill Climb Wadworth Horizon and Doom Bar being the choices available. To me it had a slight corporate feel ,a bit like a small Nicholsons pub and as such didn't really warm to the place.

Low ceilinged interior, with a deep area off to the left featuring three-quarter length varnished wood panelling and wall lamps (creating quite a nice ambience). A lighter dining area is to the right decorated with country wain-styled wallpaper and was pretty busy as the pub was doing a brisk trade in grub. Small chequerboard tiling and carpet throughout. The attractive padded semi-oval bar sported six pumps; two ciders (Rosies Pig, Hogans Pickers Passion) and three ales (Gloucester Gold, Prescott, Wye Valley Butty Bach, with Black Sheep off). My Gold was in good shape. CAMRA discount available on halves and pints, a bonus. Muted TV showing News 24 and WiFi available. Quite enjoyable, worth popping in if on an extended city centre crawl.
