Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Railway

Named after a long-disappeared railway which fell victim of the Beeching cuts, this is a small two-room backstreet pub to the south east of Ringwood town centre and not too far from the Ringwood Brewery itself. Indeed, Ringwood Best Bitter is the regular ale. 2 guests were Timothy Taylor Boltmaker & Flower Pots Pots Bitter.

I was looking forward to the "several cider boxes on", as stated on Whatpub, but when enquiring about cider, found that they did only have the two - Weston's Rosie's Pig Original & Rhubarb ciders. Craft beers were Better World West Coast IPA & Bianca Road Sabroso IPA.

The exterior is currently covered with scaffolding, with building works ongoing. We weren't sure whether the pub was actually open until a much closer inspection revealed that it was. Inside, there are two cosy rooms, a bar and a lounge, the former on the right-hand side on entering containing an impressive pumpclip collection and many pictures on the walls, some showing the old railway station. A large board in the bar listed an interesting menu. However, the kitchen is currently closed, possibly due to the ongoing works. A few customers were taking drinks to the garden at the rear, which we didn't explore.

The better of the two pubs we visited in Ringwood.

Steve of N21 left this review about Railway Hotel

A traditional Victorian two bar pub on the site of the former Castleman railway line which was once the main line west from Southampton but was a victim of the Beeching cuts in 1964. Still two bars with a public bar featuring old photographs of the railway and a dartboard, and then a carpeted lounge bar with old pews and further tables and chairs also with old photo’s maps and posters of the Railway and Ringword history. And apparently there is an enclosed garden out back with kids play area but we didn’t get to see that. Apparently once and Eldridge Pope pub, The Railway is now a free house and has 4 changing real ales with at least one from the nearby Ringwood Brewery. Ringwood Fortyniner was alongside Hopback Summer Lightning, Doombar and one other that I didn’t write down.
Worth a visit is you do the Ringwood Brewery and fancy carrying on as it is only a couple of minutes walk from the Brewery
