The Headstocks is a rough and ready estate pub in between Cinderhill and Bullwell. A very ugly seventies brick build you enter the square bar room. There is a lounge to the rear that is much larger that looks comfier and is carpeted with nicer seating but this was it total darkness and I assume only opens on busy periods or is let out as a function room. The main bar is bland as hell with no carpets and very little in terms of decor aside from a centrally located pool table and a larger sports screen. There were only a few in on my visit and it looks like this place never get overly busy. The bar is along the right hand wall as you enter and unsurprisingly has no real ale. The only option were Theakston’s beers keg or Theakston’s Dark keg. We opted for the best at a reasonable £2.80 and this was better than expected and much nicer than the usual creamflow rubbish but obviously not as good as the cask version. Overall a very dreary old estate pub that in in serious need of some tlc, drinking in here was a very subdued experience. Not a great place and not one to go out of you way to visit any time soon.

The Headstocks is a early 70s built pub that was named after the now long closed Babbington colliery.
Once inside the pub had two rooms with a smart lounge and a more basic bar,the pub used to be an Home Ales tied house and there was one real ale on the bar which was Home bitter and this was a pretty poor drink here.
I think this pub is still up and running but dont know what beers are now on here.
