Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Sheffield Water Works Company (JD Wetherspoon)
The former Lloyds No 1 branding is still to be found outside this imposing city-centre building, but the split-level interior looks like a standard 'spoons that benefits from a decent amount of window space. On this first revisit for nearly 10 years, I found the standard Greene King IPA, Doom Bar and Abbot plus Rebellion's Knucker (£2.99) and Exmoor Red from the festival range on five of the six handpumps, with the other being changed over.

This building was built in 1867 for the Sheffield Water Works Company, with the name carved into the front of the building over the main entrance. You traverse up into this building via some large stone steps, with the main bar area in front of you. The interior was fairly basic, apart from a staircase on the left leading up to a Mezzanine floor. Six ales on handpump serving GK IPA, Doombar, Abbott, plus three guest ales Salamander Morning Glory, Titanic First Class and Bradfield Farmers Blonde.

A Wetherspoons with music? Someone didn't get the memo from the Lloyds rebranding! That apart, it is quite pleasant in the average Spoons way - a splendid building with some tasteful but bland furnishings, although some of the original doors survive on the toilets. There didn't seem to be a huge choice of guest ales, but the Beer Mats Matte Black that I had was quite superb. The place certainly seemed nicer than its confederate round the corner.
