A Wetherspoons with music? Someone didn't get the memo from the Lloyds rebranding! That apart, it is quite pleasant in the average Spoons way - a splendid building with some tasteful but bland furnishings, although some of the original doors survive on the toilets. There didn't seem to be a huge choice of guest ales, but the Beer Mats Matte Black that I had was quite superb. The place certainly seemed nicer than its confederate round the corner.

Now branded with large gold lettering as Wetherspoons, this is a very grand building from the outside, but less impressive inside. There are a flight of steps to the entrance, inside to the left is a mezzanine level, while to the right there are a series of high tables along the gothic windows, the ceiling height here is impressive.
There is a simple bar with just 6 handpumps offering on my trip regular GK IPA,Abbott and Doom Bar with guests Little Critters Raspberry Blonde (decent enough but soon ran out) and Adnams Ghost Ship with another pump reversed.

Functional but with a modest ale range,I can't see any reason to revisit given the pyriad ale choices within a stones throw.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Sheffield Water Works Company (Lloyds No 1)

It's increasingly hard to tell the difference between most Lloyds No 1 Bars and regular 'spoons, but the former's branding is still all over the place here. However, on a Thursday evening at least, I don't think you could otherwise tell the difference once inside this imposing city-centre building. A split-level interior has been created, but it benefits from a decent amount of window space and relatively light furniture and decor. Only six handpumps, with three duffers (Ruddles, Greene King IPA and Doom Bar) thankfully supplemented by two from Fuggle Bunny (Chapter 7 Russian Rare-Bit and Chapter 8 Jammy Dodger, £2.30) and Partners 6 Nations.

A pretty dull Wetherspoons I'm afraid. Its on 2 floors but there's nothing of interest inside. Whatever its named after doesn't seem to displayed anywhere (certainly not that I could see downstairs). 6 handpumps dispensed just 3 generic beers today.

Although this is still a Lloyds number one on Wetherspoon's web site with music in the evening, during the day it is very much a standard Spoons.
It was quiet on my pre-midday Saturday visit. Despite the grand exterior of the building it is a fairly standard Spoons inside but without the claustrophobia of a shop conversion. I didn't investigate upstairs.
The bar had only six handpumps which were selling GK Abbot and IPA, Doom Bore, Acorn Ella IPA, Elland Old Skool and one I didn't note.
I went for the Acorn Ella IPA (£2.10) which was in reasonably good nick but with a reminder that this is Yorkshire so the Sparkler was full on.
This is a reasonable sort of Spoons that could possibly have been better given the large building it occupies.

This is a large Wetherspoons Lloyds pub in a converted building.
Once inside i went up a few stairs and there was a large room with the ber facing you there were four or five real ales on here and the drink i had was very nice but i car'nt remember what it was.
The pub was almost empty at about 10.30 saturday morning so i grabbed a seat next to the window which looks out over the road.

Nicely appointed Lloyds No.1 on one of the main bar streets in Sheffield. There's a small 1st floor area to the left as you enter which is quiet & pleasant early on a Friday evening. Apart from that it's one large room. The bar is facing you as you enter and there were a couple of guest ales available. The pint I had was in good nick and fast, efficient service as well which was a bit of a surprise. It's OK in here early evening but I suspect it gets a lot busier later on.

Presumably named after the building in which it occupies, there were four ales were available with only the one guest (a very good Thornbridge Jaipur IPA). It's a two-tier affair inside with the upstairs area being a decent stop for a beer and cheap food during the day (provided you don't mind the sticky tables) as my window seat afforded a nice place to sit. If you're on a town crawl it probably isn't worth stopping though but it isn't too bad for a Lloyds style JDW.
