Excellent brewery tap with seven Ossett beers on at the time of my visit. I went for Silver King, which was a bit lively and so not quite NBSS 4 for me. Still a very nice drink. The pub has three small rooms with the bar centrally placed. I'm not a huge fan of Ossett beers, but if I lived nearby I reckon I soon would be.

The Tap is a stone built pub that is a short walk from the middle of Ossett.
Once inside the main bar room is oblong shaped with the bar facing, the floor is bare boarded, there is some comfy looking leather bench seating to the left, but these were all taken up by football fans, there is another nice looking room to the right which is up a few steps, this room was also packed out,i stood at the bar and also noticed a real fire on the go.
The pub is an Ossett brewery tied house,i had a drink of Ossett Pale Gold which was quite a nice drink, the other beers i noted were Ossett Yorkshire Blonde /Silver King /Excelsior /Nervous Turkey, the guest beers i noted were Nottingham Rock Bitter,Rat Black Rat and Jennings Snecklifter.
This is a very pleasant pub with a good choice of real ales, just a shame it was so busy during my Saturday dinner visit.

The Tap is, as implied, a brewery tap for the Ossett brewery who took this place over in 2007. It retains an element of an alehouse despite inevitable Ossett-esque refurbishment. There’s some undressed brick, wood burning stoves, bare wood and slate flooring. Divided into two rooms by a wall which contains an inbuilt fire, the rear room is a pleasant place to while away a bit of time as it has a nice cosy feel; the other room is rather more spartan. No food is served here unlike the other nearby Ossett outlet the Old Vic. I was quite taken aback not to see the full range of Ossett brews which I found odd (just 4 on my visit…this is supposed to be a tap?) plus a couple of guests and (oddly) London Pride. Not a bad place, though I would have liked to have seen a more exciting range at the bar so left a little disappointed given the preamble. That said, it’s worth dropping in even if it isn’t a real 360 degree showcase.
