Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown Joules

Very appealing Joule's pub, with a substantial and unusually light - partially opened-out - interior still keeping various different seating / areas on each side of the central servery and in the side rooms. Of course, not all of the seemingly traditional furniture and decor is original, but the brewery has done a good job here. Pleasant front patio under the trees and a larger (and duller) rear outside seating area. Interesting selection of real ales from the nine handpumps, with three of their beers - including the Pure Blonde (£3.00) - and six guests.

Joules seem to have turned this pub around as it was packed when I turned up on a Saturday afternoon. There was some sort of charity event on with some worthless piece of tat being auctioned followed by a group murdering the Cranberries song Zombie. I retreated to the garden to avoid the cacophony. I got a chance to look at the windows from here and decided they were probably fake.
It was so busy I didn't attempt to note all the beers but went for the Joules Kolkata (£3.30) which was in good nick.
I still prefer the Holden's Station but this one is much improved. Score changed from 5 to 8.

Review as Stonegate Pub August 2015
This is a large detached suburban pub owned by the Stonegate pub company. Inside it's a huge open plan carpeted barn with an Island bar. It was quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit. The bar has just two hand pumps with on my visit GK IPA and Hobgoblin Gold. I went for the Hobgoblin Gold (£3.05) which was in good nick but also quite a reasonable beer. I didn't find this place very inspiring, I suspect it's market is younger folk later in the day.

Update: Been a few times since acquired by Joules. The pub has been given a new lease of life and has been revamped in Joules style with plenty of eclectic ephemera and pictures. Seems to attract a mixed crowd now and it has around 8 real ales, three being Joules' own. Never had a bad drink in here, but the food wasnt the best value for money. A definite visit.
*************
July 2010: A large, detached, white rendered building - it looks multi-phased, with a cottage style building having been expanded with a gabled front and corner turret!. It has a front and rear patio area

The interior is massive, open plan around the central bar, with a dart area. The décor is red and a sort of French mustard kind of colour for the walls, fake beams, and a brick fireplace. There are nice moulded windows and there was an eclectic mix of sofas, tables, chairs, stools and bench seats. There was Sky TV and music for the younger clientele. They did a value menu and much of the place was laid out for food. The pub was clean and the service friendly, with a good mix of people, though it wasn’t too busy, unlike its neighbour The Bull, which was crowded due to a quiz.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Pedigree on handpull. Sadly, the Banks’s Bitter and St Austell IPA that were on at my last visit had gone. I simply had a coke.

A place to pop in for one, rather than a night’s stay.
