A nice little detached undressed brick built pub, with flower baskets and a rear patio with covered area.

The interior had two rooms that i saw, but apparently there is an 'upstairs', where there is a pool table. The lounge, where we went was to the right on entry through the main door. The decor is cream patterned wallpaper, with some wood panel and a red ceiling. There is a brick fireplace and plenty of old photos and general prints on the walls, as well as brass horns and trumpet things amongst other ephemera. The old bell pushes are apparent. The serve a bar menu and a pizza menu, we had a decent pizza that stuffed me out for the day for £8 or so, but could have got by on the smaller size - but i was pretty merry by this stage. Walking through the bar on the way out, which is to the left on entry, it has a TV and is sport themed with its pictures. It is in a white and toffee-ish colour - as i said, i was merry.

Beer; tap stuff with an untried Malinson's Robin's Well and the excellent Wye Valley Butty Bach and Enville Ale on handpull.

A quality establishment. A decent pizza, in class surroundings, while quaffing Enville and Butty Bach - how could it not be. Do yourself a favour and go.

First class beer festival on this weekend. Went in today and they have 10 beers on stillage upstairs. We stayed and had 8 of them plus a Holdens from the bar. Good choice of beers and all in great condition. Well done. The pub has retained all its rooms and has real character.

What a fantastic boozer a little off the beaten track but well worth the 5 mins walk off the main road (bus No50). Close by to a very fine curry house called 'Simla'
