Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Moseley Arms

Fine old side-street pub with a regionally important heritage interior. Retains its Public and Smoke Room Bars, with a lounge / dining area off the latter. Very traditional throughout, except for the popular curry-based menu. Four of five handpumps in use on each counter, offering Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach, Enville Ale (£3.80) and Church End Goats Milk. Overall, something of a beer oasis in this part of the city, but definitely worth seeking it out in its own right too.

Hidden away down the back streets of Balsall Heath, The Old Moseley Arms is a cracking old two bar pub with a well preserved interior that is well worth some investigation. A front porch gives you the option of turning left into the Public Bar or right into the Smoke Room. The latter is a nicely carpeted room with sturdy looking settles around the perimeter, pleasant two-thirds height wood panelled walls and some conservative wallpapered uppers. Walls are decorated with various bits of crockery, old pictures and there is a nice brick fireplace to one side. The room is served by a nice bar to the left with a smart counter and possibly modern bar back. The same servery runs through to the Public Bar as well, but here the bar is more impressive thanks to its curved, sloping panelled counter, attractive glass shelf supported by a row of slim pillars and simple bar back. This room is also carpeted and has similar chunky settles around the three remaining walls supplemented by low stools. There is a nice tiled fireplace to the left with a grand mirror above and a large, blown-up front page of the New York Times from the day of the Titanic's sinking dominates one wall whilst a photo montage covers much of another. A large screen to the rear was showing live football and there was a second screen midway into the room displaying a load of promotional material for the pub, including a list of ales that would be coming on soon. A corridor to the rear leads to a back room with similar carpeting and wood panelling, button backed banquette seating and another pleasant fireplace and beyond this there is access to a decent, partly sheltered, patio garden.
The pub has won a number of local CAMRA awards in recent years and there was a good selection of ales available on this visit including Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach, Oakham Green Devil IPA, Enville Ale and Church End Cuthbert's, with more possibly available in the other bar - I forgot to look. My pint of Cuthbert's was in good nick although not a particularly pleasant beer and it was served to me by a very polite and welcoming barman. The pub has an extensive Indian menu which I spent ages perusing whilst cursing my decision to have a large full English that morning. Most of the customers around me ordered various dishes from the menu, all of which looked and smelt fantastic, but I regrettably had to go without.
This is a cracking pub that is well worth making the short bus ride from Birmingham City Centre to find. The pub has a great interior which is worth some investigation alone, but factor in the good beer and food options and you're onto a real winner. I really enjoyed this place and ended up spending much more time in here than I'd anticipated and would love to pop back again to try some of their curry.

Excellent old Victorian back street boozer, selling a decent pint of Butty Bach. A real oasis in this part of the world, due to the high percentage of non drinking locals. The place was rammed on a cold April afternoon and the chance for a game of cards and a bite to eat were welcome. As Gill Smith says, easily reach by the 50 bus, get off at Homer street.

First class beer festival on this weekend. Went in today and they have 10 beers on stillage upstairs. We stayed and had 8 of them plus a Holdens from the bar. Good choice of beers and all in great condition. Well done. The pub has retained all its rooms and has real character.

The above was in 2010 and I visited on Friday for a beer festival. The beers were outside set up on a stillage, and were in good condition. I selected beers from Half Moon brewery and Brewsmith brewery and went into the comfortable bar inside. Outstanding food menu of all sorts of Curries with descriptions. Easily reached from the regular 50 bus route.

I have seen this pub advertised in Out in Brum on numerous occasions, so I was pleased to visit here at last. We arrived on the first day of their Beer Fest, which they have four times a year. They also had a very good selection of five ales on the bar. We were pleased to see some homemade samosas on our arrival which were very good, served with two dipping sauces. This encouraged us to try their chicken tikka and a couple of curries, which were excellent. In spite of trying numerous ales from the fest, the two Gun Dog beers on the bar were top notch. They were Gun Dog Booze Hound and Gun Dog Bad to the Bone. Staff, owner and customers were all very friendly. Will defo return.

Two roomed back street boozer that is neat and tidy but traditional, just a few minutes walk from the main Alcester Road (50 bus route out of town). There was an open fire in both rooms which were welcoming on a bitterly cold day. Besides the regular pub grub menu there is also a tandoori clay oven menu. One side was dark and I observed a bloke sitting by the fire reading his book - a good way to pass a Monday afternoon I thought. The bar side was more brightly lit and a flat screen TV was showing a Carry On film but the sound was low.

On handpull there was Evan Evan's Santa's Tipple, Enville Ale, Black Sheep Best Bitter and Purity Mad Goose. The keg offerings were Guinness, San Miguel, Tetley Extra Cold, Carling Extra Cold and Carlsberg Export.

I found it quite welcoming and I would glady go back. This has been a Good Beer Guide entry for at least the last 3 years.

Excellent traditional pub, especially considering the location in inner city Birmingham. A bit dark inside but lovely traditional fittings. Would love this as my local. A number of small rooms, lots of dark panel wood.

3 real ales, and regular beer festivals.
