Very much an eating house now, with a peculiar single price menu structure which didn'[t really suit us as only wanted a quick bite. Even worse, they couldn't vary the menu options (eg no cheese) as apparently pre-prepared. Range of Hook Norton beers which were drinkable, but not in the finest condition. A bit disappointing - could be much better.

Full range of Hook Norton on - I went for a Hooky, which was cloudy but tasted OK.
We were there at Sunday Lunchtime. Although they do offer the full menu, there are no light bites or sandwiches. This isn't a complaint - most places just do Sunday Lunch.
Everyone there was dining.

ORIGINAL REVIEW Sept 2011.
A very friendly welcome awaits customers to this Hook Norton tied house. There is an open plan public bar which has more of a lounge feel ,but contains a pool table and darts board .There were three Hooky ales available and the condition of both the Old Hooky and the Bitter was good. There is a selection of bar snacks and pub grub available most sessions ,and the general atmosphere was relaxed with a good smattering of locals gathered around the bar.
There is a seperate restaurant with all tables set for dining ,but this was not operational on my lunchtime visit.
A shortish walk up from the Oxford Canal,I would return to this pub which doesn't have the quirky issues prevalent at the pubs on the dark side of the village.
Hook Norton has done a significant refurb here obliterating the pubbiness in exchange for a very corporate eating venue.Much more open plan than before with horrible slatted blinds in the windows, the loss of atmosphere is palpable.Probably fine as a place to eat but now offputting as a pub to drink in and a downgrade from me.
