This has been more than well described below. It wasn't busy when I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon but I did notice as I left that there were people in the side garden. They don't do food here but they have an arrangement with the cafe across the road to order from their menu and the two of them will get the order to you. I had an excellent tuna and egg salad for just £5.50.
As noted below this has new owners and they seem determined to stock beers from the very local Church End brewery. They had Goat's Milk and Coffin Stout both at £3.30. The Goat's Mil was hazy but tasted OK and the Stout was excellent. There was a third hand pump with a turned clip. I stayed for a few more stouts which went down a treat.
I liked this place and the originally American woman behind the bar was clearly a Midlands Anglophile.

Bucking Fastard left this review about New Swan

Recently changed hands, this town centre boozer has two distinct rooms. To the left is a small square room which is popular with younger drinkers and features a lot of gins and flavoured vodkas. The main saloon is to the right, quite long and narrow with the bar to the left side. The outstanding feature is the pine flooring, while furniture is limited to some kitchen type tables and chairs together with bench seating opposite the bar.A brick fireplace was unused, while the juke box occasionally played some hip hop. There are two handpumps with Church End Goats Milk (reversed) and a decent Church End Stout Coffin (£3).Fonts for megabrand lagers adorn the bar.
The young landlord explained that he is a trained chef and would be offering themed food night, but by ticket only.He also explained that on Friday and Saturday he stays open until 2am and attracts a lot of town boozers and birds after the other pubs have closed, and uses doormen to keep order. So it could get very lively in here ,and the interior does have a bar vibe.
By all accounts this new team have greatly improved the dodgy pub of the past,so good luck to them.Good to see some real ale being served up,pricing is decent too.

Alan Winfield left this review about New Swan

The New Swan is a decent looking pub that is situated just off the main road through Atherstone.
Once inside the main room is oblong shaped which runs to the rear, the bar is on the left side, the seating is narrow wood backed bench seats on the right side, the room is bare boarded ,there was a darts board to the rear left, background music was playing.
There is a seperate pool room to the front front left.
There were two unused pumps on the bar, this left me with a choice of John Smiths smooth crap or keg Worthington,i opted for the Worthington which was a pretty poor drink.
There did'nt seem to be a lot going for this pub, probably best left for the locals.
