Steve C left this review about The Old Star
The low beamed bar of the Old Star is found to the left of the entrance where standard and premium keg are available alongside Beavertown’s Neck Oil and four hand pumps. Two of these were unused which left Purity’s Mad Goose and Bass as the cask ale options. I had my first Bass of many which was well served. On the back wall of a large chimney breast that runs up the centre of the pub is a chalkboard that lists upcoming music nights, this is a music venue. The loud gnarly music that was playing early on a recent Thursday evening gave an insight into who this pub is aimed at. On the other side of the aforementioned chimney breast is an inglenook that houses an iron oven and some silverware. This carpeted seating area has a television that was off and a dartboard. In the very rear is another dartboard and a pool table. The service was polite and the Bass was good, but I’m not a massive live music fan so will probably not use this pub again.

Good juke box, decent live music. The TV in the middle lounge could be situated better!!! With a licence until after 12 it offers a place to go for music and a late drink!!
