Tavern on the Green is a long and thin pub with a seating area at the front that is overlooked by a television, live sport is advertised. The L shaped bar along the right wall faces seating along the left and at the rear is more seating and another television. During my visit late on Wednesday afternoon both televisions were off and there was some background music playing.
The bar supports a limited premium keg range as well as an offering from Beavertown. Two of the four hand pumps were unused which left Landlord and Boltmaker from Timothy Taylor as the cask ale options. Half a Boltmaker was £1.95. I found the service to be polite and would have no problem returning.

This pub offers aesthetic value in the way that the Spoons does not. The former Faulkners Arms has Romanesque windows and doorways, with string courses and coloured brick. There is a rear patio area. The interior is really one room now, it is in rustic style sadly - with brick, plaster, packing crate wood and so forth (which is now getting a bit of a bore). A couple of fireplace do add something to the experience, as do the mixed photographs and ornaments. They do food - pie and mash. The music was loud and the boxing was on on the TV (it was a weekend). Service was fine and a mixed crowd was in. Beer: usual tap stuff with Robinson's Dizzy Blonde and Purple Moose Dark Side of the Moose (fine) on handpull. Happy enough to have stopped for one.

I have been in here years ago when it was the Faulkners Arms, so was intrigued to take another look now it has become the Tavern on the Green. My mate informed me that Justin Bieber had been known to drink in here - whether that is true or not I don't know, and nor do I particularly care.

Visited before Christmas and it was pretty busy but managed to get a table near the front. They have attempted to go for the rustic look with the bare brick on one of the walls, but to me it looks as if they have tried to strip the wallpaper and the plaster came off with it and they thought "sod it, that'll do!"

The most exciting real ale they had on offer was Hardy & Hansons Rocking Rudolph, which was neither offensive nor remarkable, and is now made by Greene King. Nothing really to rush back for on the ale front.

Service was friendly, the guy behind the bar was very chatty.

The rear of the pub seems to be set up for dining with a more formal table arrangement going on.
