An attractive village boozer with a hollowed out and undistinguished interior save for two large fireplaces.
The atmosphere was good on our Saturday evening visit with the local server enjoying a pint or two whilst welcoming first time visitors.
On a warm evening the cold Stella was welcome and preferable to Doom Bar as the only ale option.

This pub has the appearance of a substantial family home from the outside with little in the way of pub signage and a well tendered front garden, yet with a large decking used for good weather drinking. The interior is larger than you may expect. To the left the bay window has a fitted bench below, while an inglenook fireplace has a flatscreen above. There is another inglenook to the right of the entrance with benches situated beneath while there is a seperate pool room at the back and a front snug with dining tables further to the right side.
However the vibe is of a village boozer and the guv'nor and his wife acknowledged our arrival despite being off duty and drinking with the regulars. Two very attractive barmaids show that he has a keen eye when recruiting talent.
Sadly a solitary pump for Doom Bar was the only ale on offer,so two rounds of Stella ensued before sloping off for a curry.Nothing here for the real ale fan.

A pub of difficult to determine age built of local sandstone and set back slightly from the road with raised outdoor seating areas. Inside there are two rooms served from one long bar with three hand pumps. These were serving Greene King IPA, Fullers London Pride and St Austell Tribute - so, no local beers then. The bar by the entrance had low beams and a radio playing at unignorably high volume, which irritated at least one customer. The other bar was far enough away for the radio not to grate, and the TV set above the coal-effect gas fire had the volume turned off, which was a relief.

The other room, on the left, was an odd room: the bar was built of brick with whiteboards above, and seating was an eclectic mix of inglenook benches and leather sofas, the only normal table and chairs, in the bay window, being occupied by some other Luton Town fans. The beer was OK for a pre-match drink, being less than half a mile from the Rushden and Diamonds ground, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drink here again.
