Convenient for a stop off between the station and the football ground, fairly bland interior with a wooden floor, pool and darts and lots of TVs showing the football. Service was friendly enough. Pride, Doom Bar and Rebellion Roasted Nuts at only £3.15.

Quinno _ left this review about The Corner House

A new name and a lick of paint but not really much change overall. On a Monday night we found a loud thudding piped music station, populated by four well-lubricated middle-aged locals. Darts and jukey spotted. Two ales at the bar; Pride and Doom Bar - neither drank particularly well. Unimpressed – no wonder it was quiet.

June 2011 (as Noctors)
A bit of a wildcard visit, was initially put off by the Wills n’ Kate bunting overkill but popped in anyway. Not a bad find – this place trades fairly heavily on being a music venue with plenty of info about upcoming bands available (apparently the venue is open until 1am). Perhaps more surprising was the presence of three handpumps, serving up Doom Bar and Pride with the TT Landlord being unavailable. My Doom Bar was decent if a tad shy of being solidly good. One let down was the grubby-looking glassware, they need a new dishwasher here. Other features of the pub included a pool table, big screen for the footy and some sofas. The interior is relatively sparse with a bare wooden floor and an old whisky barrel by the door. If I were a local resident I’d be happy to give this place a go on music nights. Rated 6.

Roger Button left this review about Noctors Bar

Situated in the town centre, Noctors was originally the Queens Head before becoming an Irish bar called Finnegans Wake and eventually reinventing itself yet again as a music pub.

The interior is plain with bare floors, basic minimal seating, low ceilings, barrel tables and acres of floor space for band viewing although there is no actual stage so when busy I doubt anyone beyond the first 20 people will get to view anything tops of a few heads. An angled section to the right of the bar contains a pool table and there is a TV to one side and Big Screen at the rear.

There were 3 ales generally available, Doom Bar, Landlord and London Pride although the Landlord was off for our visit. The staff seemed friendly enough although the pub was virtually empty for our Saturday lunchtime pint apart from a dozen or so pub crawling football fans.

I can think of far worse places to watch a pub band and the ales are decent enough for this sort of venue. Overall, a place that was much better than I had initially expected.
