Feels like a place that has gone down on its luck, a nice range of buildings and large outdoor area but inside seems to be one fairly basic and rather run down drinkers' bar, apart from a small upstairs area which is slightly more select. It is trying with the beers, offering Razorback, Rev James, Lancaster Bomber and Southwark Bankside Blonde at time of visit but sadly condition of those sampled was not great. Might give it another chance but definite room for improvement.

Paid a second visit in six months last weekend and it’s nice to see this one back functioning as a proper pub rather than a restaurant. But by the evidence of yet another “Under new Management “ sign dominating the front vista it would appear another one where the owners struggle to make it viable.
Despite some modernisation this Grade II listed pub which was originally formed from knocking together several cottages, still has a lot of internal character , and the mezzanine floor with its comfy settees at the far end away from the bar area remains my favourite spot.
The new owners seem to be trying to attract a younger demographic, if the loud muzac blaring out in the main bar area and the young multi hair coloured serving staff are anything to go by. But the Mezzanine area was far enough away to be relaxing.
One handpump (Adnams ) and two barrels (GK IPA and Fullers London Pride) we on offer and my pint of Adnams was decent enough.
The large garden which leads down to the canal remains as a key asset and the ex-canal stables now houses a coffee house.

A lovely old building with an interesting curved double door through which you enter the pub. Inside there are some original features, a gallery at the far end and three or four fireplaces, but it really has been overly modernised with acres of pine - floor, tall tables and stools and the bar. A shame but at least its a clean and pleasant place to be.
Beer was Tring Side Pocket, Abbot and Deuchars IPA. Uninspiring and the Side Pocket was cloudy and not in great nick.
As Mr Fastard notes, the food, from a decent menu, is good value and tasty.
Possibly the best spot for a beer in Hunton Bridge but that's not up against a great deal of competition.
