Feels like a place that has gone down on its luck, a nice range of buildings and large outdoor area but inside seems to be one fairly basic and rather run down drinkers' bar, apart from a small upstairs area which is slightly more select. It is trying with the beers, offering Razorback, Rev James, Lancaster Bomber and Southwark Bankside Blonde at time of visit but sadly condition of those sampled was not great. Might give it another chance but definite room for improvement.

Paid a second visit in six months last weekend and it’s nice to see this one back functioning as a proper pub rather than a restaurant. But by the evidence of yet another “Under new Management “ sign dominating the front vista it would appear another one where the owners struggle to make it viable.
Despite some modernisation this Grade II listed pub which was originally formed from knocking together several cottages, still has a lot of internal character , and the mezzanine floor with its comfy settees at the far end away from the bar area remains my favourite spot.
The new owners seem to be trying to attract a younger demographic, if the loud muzac blaring out in the main bar area and the young multi hair coloured serving staff are anything to go by. But the Mezzanine area was far enough away to be relaxing.
One handpump (Adnams ) and two barrels (GK IPA and Fullers London Pride) we on offer and my pint of Adnams was decent enough.
The large garden which leads down to the canal remains as a key asset and the ex-canal stables now houses a coffee house.

A lovely old building with an interesting curved double door through which you enter the pub. Inside there are some original features, a gallery at the far end and three or four fireplaces, but it really has been overly modernised with acres of pine - floor, tall tables and stools and the bar. A shame but at least its a clean and pleasant place to be.
Beer was Tring Side Pocket, Abbot and Deuchars IPA. Uninspiring and the Side Pocket was cloudy and not in great nick.
As Mr Fastard notes, the food, from a decent menu, is good value and tasty.
Possibly the best spot for a beer in Hunton Bridge but that's not up against a great deal of competition.

Maldenman has already described the interior very well, this is clearly an old building with overly modern fixtures and fittings which detract from what could be a very interesting interior. The gallery and the graceful curved front door and the only noteable features although it was pleasing to see the fireplace nearest the bar being in working condition.
The welcome was friendly and although the musak was loud,it was turned down and did feature The Cure and Bowie numbers which were bearable. My Deuchars IPA was OK but there is no real focus on ale here, despite three handpumps. The bar snacks however were very good and at £3.65 good value for a large doorstep sandwich.
Glad that this place has reverted to a pub,the main selling point is their food rather than ale or ambiance.

The pub has now reverted to its original name following a spell as The Waterside Tavern. The interior is a long narrow area with the bar along the back wall, the carpeted room extends along and has a galleried section at the end where there are a pair of sofas beside the fire. The area beneath the gallery has a feel of separation from the main body of the pub being partially behind a large exposed brick chimney breast. Stacked logs beside the fires suggest they see some use. The room has a low beamed ceiling with beams and posts painted black. at one end stands a suit of armour, further decor includes a display of period advertisments.. Despite the pub's age, much of the rather limited seating is from the modern designers' catalogue, the aforementioned sofas plus right across the front, a row of high tables with ludicrously uncomfortable high padded benches with low backs which partially obscure the windows. There is a TV high on an end wall, but this was switched off on Saturday afternoon.
Reasonable looking food menus including a £5 lunch special, Thursday has Steak Night, a rib-eye steak plus a drink for £12.
Four handpumps were serving GK Abbot, Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Tring Side Pocket(£3.20), the other one was unclipped.
There is a good size garden area with benches that runs down to the canalside.

Steve of N21 left this review about The Waterside Tavern

17th Century Coaching Inn next to the canal at Hunton Bridge, Just off Junction 20 of the M25.
Used to be a traditional pub known as the Kings Head and was a good place for a pint when walking or cycling the canal tow path.
But then parts of the building started subsiding into the Canal and had to be shut for a major refurb.
Was reopened as the Waterside Tavern but is more of a modern gastro Pizza restaurant than a tavern.
Still benefits from a very decent outside garden space which runs along the canal, but despite having three handpumps along the bar there was only Fullers Pride on during my visit.
The Pizza's looked OK , but if you are after a more traditional pub , then the Dog and Patridge round the corner is a better bet,
