hondo . left this review about The Marlborough Hotel

Pub and theatre with a quirky decor. 1 real ale served from a central double sided bar.

Steve C left this review about The Marlborough Hotel

I had an impromptu visit to Brighton on a Saturday night when I was in my prime about fifteen years ago. I spent a couple of hours in a pub whose name I cannot remember, but I do recall that it was a pub aimed at lesbians and that there was a pool table in a room at the back. After my visit to the Marlborough Hotel on Tuesday evening last week I came to the conclusion that this is in fact the pub that I visited many years ago. There is a left and right hand bar and the pool table is at the rear, but I think that the wall that separated the pool room and right hand bar has been knocked through at some point. I didn’t spot any televisions, but there was some loud rock music playing. There is live entertainment every Friday evening and every Saturday evening is ‘lick me up with dame Amy’ which sounds a little dubious to me. More interestingly the pool table is free on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The little Theatre which I’m sure hosts many an interesting show can be found upstairs.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and the hand pump was drawing W J King’s Brighton Best. There is also a £2.70 a pop shooter menu and food is available Wednesdays through to Saturdays, but I saw no menu.

The woman pulling the pints was friendly, but I doubt I’ll be returning here anytime soon as I’m a football and darts kind of guy.
