Rock/alternative pub and live comedy/music venue.3 real ales and food served. The pub has a pool table. The live venue is located upstairs.

Steve C left this review about Caroline of Brunswick

The Caroline of Brunswick is primarily a student pub and the interior décor makes it look like a grungy music venue. On speaking to the very friendly barmaid I gleaned that there are no live bands due to the neighbours, but there are regular acoustic, karaoke and comedy nights. A mixture of standard and premium draught was available alongside four hand pumps that were drawing Hobgoblin and Old Rosie cider as well as Signature and Triple Champion from 1648 Brewery. To the left of the bar in this U shaped pub is a pool table and by the entrance there is a quiz and fruit machine. The jukebox was playing a random selection of songs as no money had been put in. There is a small enclosed outside area at the rear that houses four picnic tables and a speaker that plays the music from the pub. Maybe if they lost the outside speaker they could have live music?

It wasn’t very busy in here when I visited late on Tuesday night, but there was a friendly atmosphere. The 1648 was good, but I’m not a big fan of dimly lit student venues like this one so I’ll not be adding this pub to my list of must revisit pubs.
