Steve C left this review about The Bugle Inn
The Bugle inn is hidden down a backstreet off Lewes Road and I would doubt that many people other than locals know of its existence. There were ten or so people sitting around the central bar during my visit at 18:00 last Tuesday evening and they all seemed friendly enough. There was some background music playing and the plasma screen was switched off. A sign behind the bar states ‘football free zone’ so I’d imagine that there is no Sky Sports. Live music was advertised for a week on Friday (so this Friday), but this pub isn’t very big so I wonder how a band sets up in here. There is a fireplace with open fire that I imagine is very welcome on colder days. There are three picnic tables on the path out the front and I think that there is a garden at the rear, but I did not visit.
I found the service to be friendly and alongside the standard draught products are three hand pumps. The Harvey’s Best was off leaving Dark Star’s American Pale Ale and Hophead as the cask options. Children are welcome during the day and I don’t recall seeing any food advertised.
I liked it in here and would gladly return for an extended period.
