Recently refurbed,this street corner pub is now a shrine to craft beers (14 taps) and real ales (6 handpumps).The interior has been stripped out with the square serving bar standing centrally surrounded by wall mounted drinking shelves and a few tables and seats.Away from the bar there is more room to one side,while a rear wall has a glass screen throught which is visible an exterior metal decking for open air drinking.The decor is very hip,it is firmly into the craft keg revolution.A side wall contains the beer list noting ABV and price with craft beers to the left,ale to the right.I didn't bother noting whats on as several PuG colleagues were busy photographing the wall mounted list.None of the taps or pulls have clips so you dont get samplers bent double trying to make their decisions.
Be prepared to pay up for the experience.My Purity Saddleback was in top form but set me back £4.I noted a 3.8% craft keg beer at £6,a new price point for me,but I live in the sticks.
I would certainly pay a revisit,the ale selection was novel and enterprising and I would expect to find some excellent brews being showcased here.I might even slip down a few halves of the keg beers to round off an evening.Expect to be drinking vertically at busy times,and be prepared for hipsters !
