As described below, with nothing much changed in the intervening 5 years. Nice pub, but with a very pedestrian range of beers. Only two handpumps in use on our visit, Thwaites Bitter and Wainwright. The bitter was in decent nick. There were two huge, but friendly dogs in, which weren't a problem, but when they both crashed out on the floor there wasn't much room for anyone else. I'd pop in again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Oaks

Refurbished and partly opened-out pub with a couple of seating / dining areas by the bar, but a side room has thankfully been retained on the other side of the entrance. Semi-modern furniture and decor throughout, and slightly annoying 'lounge bar' jazz background music. Wainwright and Thwaites Tbc (£3.50) available from two of the four handpumps in use.

This is a bright, clean and spacious pub with a decent selection of cask beers. There is a flagged area at the front of the bar which extends to cover all the room on the right, which is well furnished with photos of brewing ingredients on the wall and a fireplace that is heavily adorned with artifitial flowers. There is an opened up room to the left and beyond this an open area possibly for vertical drinkers. Worth a visit this one

A nice little pub. A central corridor like middle has two areas on each side as you enter with the smaller area to your right for drinking and the larger area to your left for both food and drink. 5 handpumps.

This pub holds the annual World Black Pudding Throwing Championship which used to be held at the Corner Pin pub (no longer there)in Stubbings just down the road.Participants have to throw (underarm)the puddings in an attempt to dislodge a stack of Yorkshire puddings placed on plinths on two levels (one for children, the other for adults)symbolising the ancient rivalry between Lancashire and Yorkshire. The winner is the one who dislodges most Yorkshire puddings in three attempts.
