A lovely old 16th century coaching inn (the archway gives its history away) that has unfortunately been over-modernised inside - rendering it into a basic village pub, tatty round the edges. Pool table to the right, plasma on the left with Saturday football showing. Further along was a dart board. Paved rear courtyard. Doom Bar and Sixpenny Gold at the bar, with a friendly enough bar lady serving. Thought I’d struck lucky when I saw the Sixpenny retailing at £2 per pint but sadly my half wasn’t very good at all - tinny-tasting and certainly not how I know Scott Wayland’s beers to be, so I secreted it in a corner and made good my escape. Shame, really.
