It's quite a shock to walk through the door of the oldest pub in Pudsey and find yourself in a sports bar that could be anywhere in the West Riding. (It reminded me of a similar pub in Horsforth, not many miles away - a lovely exterior, but something else on the inside.) The pub is much as described in the previous reviews, with the bar still on the left, still with two hand pumps. Unfortunately one of them had Bradfield Farmers Blonde on, which wasn't very good; I should have asked for John Smiths Smooth instead.

The Golden Lion is a decent looking pub from the outside.
Once inside things go downhill quickly, there is one large square shaped room with the bar on the left side, the seating is a few normal tables and chairs on the right side and three seating bays to the rear one slightly raised, the rest of the room is devoid of any seating making it look pretty bare.
There were two pumps on the bar both unclipped so it was a drink of John Smiths Smooth Crap which summed this pub up,to add to the woes of this pub two large dogs were running riot around the pub.
The one plus point was some decent background music.
There is not a lot going for this pub and while i looked round i thought there could be no quick cure for it.

Knocked through into one big space, there are two pulls one with Doombar, the other unclipped alongside the usual keg suspects. Pool table at one end and an interesting new old floor, decor in a bit of stripped pine and a bit of trendy grey. When I asked for Doombar, the barmaid said I don't think it's working it's gone right sour; sums up the place really but at least I was warned. The punters wind her up by working out the change due before the till does, Good game. Machines, big big screen and jukebox are available.
