Visiting the market today, so rude not to pop in the Kings Head for a quick one. Glad to find it functioning well and being smartly maintained, especially the back dining room area by the toilets where the decor with its copious pictures and comfortable furniture make for a good internal spot, especially as it allows you to avoid the multiple screens which are in the front bar and associated snug room to the left. Fortunately blessed with a fine weather lunchtime I could take my pint out to one of the bench seats to the front of the pub and indulge in people watching of the assorted visitors to the market.
In that respect Greene King IPA and Sharps Doombar are permant beers on the three ale pumps and the third has a rotating guest, usually one from the Enfield based New River Brewery. However for this visit it was a cask version of Wolfpack Sesh IPA which I know is brewed by GK but is accociated with Saracens Rugby club and was a surprisingly pleasant pint on a warm day.
Still a solid 7 for me so no need to change my rating.

A fine looking building with etched glass on all the ground floor windows,an impressive floral display and a good location at the rear of the cobbled stoned market place. The interior is very typical London boozer, the front door opens into a tap room with a U shaped bar ,a few traditional tables and chairs,a wooden floor and flatscreens ,thankfully on mute.Up a step is another servery, two tuns to rest your pint, another flatscreen and the wood floor continues throughout the pub.At the back of the pub there is a square room with a large ceiling light, and a small stage which these days is just used as a seating area. This rear area had tables with a corporate Greene King pub grub menu, but it's fine to use this area just to drink.
Three handpumps were offering GK London Glory with guests CW Bombardier and New River London Tap (£3.40,a little tired).
The pub was busy on my Saturday afternoon visit ,and with the market packing up it felt like this was the watering hole for stall holders after a busy day.A solid boozer, with some interesting features.

This pub still looks much the same as described by the previous reviewer, with a bare boarded floor, a couple of tall tables/tall stools at the front by the windows, but with the majority of furnishings being normal tables and chairs. The main bar area stretches around to the right of the central servery into another small room reached via a wooden archway, and beyond this is another room that has clearly been added when the pub expanded into an adjoining building. This latter room has all the tables laid for diners, but there is more than enough room for those just wanting a drink. Some original cut and etched glasswork remains, although a lot of the glazing are modern replacements. There are some picnic benches at the front of the pub, where anyone making use of them could enjoy the sounds and aromas of the market that was in full flow when we visited on Thursday lunchtime.

It only had Greene King ales on when we visited, having just their IPA and Olde Trip (£3.40 a pint) on. The food seemed reasonably priced - the burger is £8.95; cod & chips is £10.95; sarnies are around £5 - £7, with the BLT at £6.25. The reverse of the single sheet menu has a seniors menu, giving a main course (including the pie of the day) and a drink (a half of IPA is included) for £6.45. My egg-loving companion was impressed that a couple of the dishes on the menu included a duck egg; not sure I would be impressed by that but everyone to their own.

There were a couple of TVs on, but muted and advertising pub facilities such as the function room, and meal deals, plus some background music playing quietly. I saw some live entertainment advertised, plus a karoake on hallowe'en. This is a perfectly decent, and somewaht magnificent archecturally, old pub. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here for the beer as I'm not a great fan of Greene King ales, but it's a nice enough place to stop off for a swift one if you're in the centre of Enfield.
