Title: The Stockport Pub Crawl
Creator: Clive Thompson

Description:
This crawl was undertaken on Sunday 21st March 2010 as part of the Guinness and Gold Cup Tour. We started at the Crown Inn just a 10 minute walk down King St West from the rear exit of Stockport train station. A short walk skirting around the side of Debenhams and up Princes St found the Swan With Two Necks. Cut through the Mersey Shopping Centre via Deanery Way into Little Underbank and you’ll see the Queens Head just by the viaduct. Up the steps opposite the pub and go straight on into an open square then right into Market Place. Take a left into Millgate and follow the road round to find the Arden Arms by the roundabout. Turn left out of the pub and walk up Corporation St, turn right onto Great port wood St and after a few minutes you’ll come to the (Porter’s) Railway Ale House. From here we got a cab to the Magnet Inn on Wellington Rd North. Another cab took us back past the Crown Inn and up the hill to Ye Olde Vic. From here it was just a short walk back to the train station.

Crown Inn (1)
Fantastic pub with an attractive interior, friendly service and a wide range of real ales.
Swan With Two Necks (2)
Robinsons pub with a small front bar, a corridor drinking area and two rear rooms.
The Queens Head (3)
Tiny Sam Smiths pub that doesn’t seem to have changed much in the last 50 years.
The Arden Arms (4)
Multi-roomed Robinsons pub with a plain exterior and an impressive interior.
The Railway Ale House (5)
A scruffy exterior and to an extent the interior as well but it’s the beer that’s the star here.
The Magnet Inn (6)
Another good beer pub with a much newer feel to it.
Ye Olde Vic (7)
Quirky pub with ‘crap & tat’ theme to the décor, a friendly feel and a roaring log fire.
