The Railway, Stockport

Not to be confused with the Railway Alehouse in an area blessed with any number of decent pubs. This one would figure quite highly in some towns, but in Stockport it's not really in the top league. There are six hand pumps split between two rooms. On the occasion of my visit they were serving Northallerton Snow Storm, Stamps Mail Train, Holts Bitter and two from Double Top. If you're doing Stockport it would be a shame to miss this one out, but sometimes needs must. Date of visit: 14th January 2017

Quite a smart looking pub from the outside. Slightly tired on the inside with chairs stacked up in a corner in the lounge, which doesn't look good. Very popular though. 3 rooms with the front areas being lounges and a rear room which has a dartboard & pool table. There's also an upstairs room which can be hired. 4 handpumps on the bar serving Holts Bitter as a permanent beer plus 3 changing guests. My pint was in good nick as well. It's a decent pub, but it just didn't really do it for me. The good ale would make me call in for one again though next time I'm in this part of town.
