The Lordship Arms, Stevenage

We'd initially tried to visit this village local earlier in the day. But despite drinkers still being present, we were too late for 3pm last orders. The pub re-opens for 5 evenings each week and we returned to find the door open later in the evening, as our last stop. Unfortunately, we only paid a fleeting visit to what is a very good real ale establishment. The 3 regular ales are Black Sheep Best Bitter, Timothy Taylor Landlord & Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold. Guests were Crouch Vale Amarillo, McMullen Country Bitter & Downlands Lamplighter, with Sandford Orchards Devon Mist cider also on handpull. The barmaid was friendly. But the landlord didn't seem the most welcoming. Nevertheless, this was my favourite pub of our Saturday visit to Hertfordshire.
