The Hatters Arms

The Hatters Arms

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

Thanks for the hint, Mr Camra! Though of course the Hatters in the pub's name are the wrong ones from my point of view. My first thought on entering was that this pub is the same as the Swan with Two Necks in Stockport, but in mirror image. But as th... [more>]
The Oxnoble

The Oxnoble

ManchesterManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Steve C

The Oxnoble is a large L shaped pub with TV’s throughout that were showing muted darts whilst some background music played during a Weekday evening in November last year. The bar support a standard and premium keg range and I counted five hand pumps.... [more>]
The Samuel Oldknow

The Samuel Oldknow

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

The owner told me that he took the time off during Covid lockdowns to completely revamp the pub which has been here for around six years. There is a seating area in front, and the interior is now very much like a traditional pub. It's been done with ... [more>]
BrewDog Manchester

BrewDog Manchester

ManchesterManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Steve C

The usual industrial Brewdog interior with large board up above the bar listing the many keg beers. Around to the right of the bar is a fridge with cans and bottles for sale. Friendly staff, but I’m not a huge fan of this chain.
The Ring o' Bells

The Ring o' Bells

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

This pub was the only one in my tour of Marple and environs where I did not receive a warm welcome, and this was probably because the licensee was enforcing a totally unnecessary "table service only" policy. Luckily I was allowed to use the toilet fa... [more>]
Bevi

Bevi

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

A slight kink in the road means that this shop conversion has a broader front than the micropub next door (Samuel Oldknow) but narrows markedly towards the rear, a shape reminiscent of a wedge of cake, or possibly Brie. The bar is at the front on the... [more>]
Norfolk Arms

Norfolk Arms

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

I was looking forward to coming here, as the building is a handsome one, but having taken a photo of the front in the sunshine that had replaced the earlier overcast, I found that the front door had a notice saying that it was "exit only" - but this ... [more>]
Seven Bro7hers Brewhouse

Seven Bro7hers Brewhouse

SalfordManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Steve C

I attended a work Christmas party in Seven Bro7hers on a Friday before Christmas. The interior is rectangular with a bar on the rear wall that supports ten keg taps and another ten can be found on the back bar. Talking to the barman I gleaned that Se... [more>]
The Spring Gardens

The Spring Gardens

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

I was the second customer through the door just after 12, the first clearly being a regular and greeted by name by the lass behind the bar. After serving me she observed that I was new to the pub, and I explained something about beer tourism and pub ... [more>]
The Railway

The Railway

StockportManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Will Larter

It was quietish when I was here at Friday lunchtime, with maybe half a dozen elderly couples having whatever food is on the pensioner section of the menu. I don't know if it was the fact that the gents toilets were closed for renovation that made it ... [more>]
The Henry Boddington

The Henry Boddington

ManchesterManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Steve C

Henry Boddington is a Sizzling Pub and Grill located adjacent to Swinton Premier Inn, although the two are in no way affiliated. There is a car park and outside the front entrance is some covered seating. Some picnic tables can be found around the fr... [more>]
The Abbey Tavern

The Abbey Tavern

NW1London (Central)

Recommended by Bucking Fastard

The interior has been stripped out ,the lettering on the outside mentions cask ale but there was none, just some very mainstream kegs. There maybe a roof terrace but I can see no reason to return,it's just very dull .Much better pubs very close by.
The Gallery Lounge

The Gallery Lounge

ManchesterManchester (Greater)

Recommended by peter ashworth

Situated at Islington Wharfe this is a quite spacious bar and aithough they had no cask the pint of Manchester Union lager was not bad.
Old Station House Hotel

Old Station House Hotel

SalfordManchester (Greater)

Recommended by Steve C

The Old Station House is a functioning hotel with advertised en-suite bedrooms and a function room. To the left of the building is a patio garden full of picnic tables and to the right are some parking spaces. The left hand side of the building was c... [more>]
