The Castle Grounds

Fairly busy pub which is aimed at the student market. Only Hobgoblin on offer plus a Lilley's cider. There are also a couple of craft keg fonts serving Beavertown beers. I went for the hobgoblin which was OK. Glad I called in.

Impulse was very much open on the Sunday lunchtime we passed by. It was quite busy and is well used by locals. No ale so I had a quick Coors and moved on.

The Squirrel is one of the few Coventry pubs I had visited before (some 10 years ago!) and I was hoping to pop in before it shuts on the 17th Jan. It hadn't opened when I passed by so it wasn't to be.

Although it wasn't open when I passed by it is definitely not closed for business. I can't add anything else other than to mark it open!

Nice looking Spoons which was extremely busy when we called. We managed to grab a table and had a quick brunch. For some reason I didn't note the beers but whatever I had was fine!

I used to drink in the Midland Hotel on the odd Saturday night after returning from the football. It could get a bit "lively" in here!

As Soupy says below this pub was shut for years. I used it quite often in the late 80's and early 90's but I haven't been in since the refurb. Very popular on matchdays when you can expect a small charge to enter!
The Ship

A Smallish street corner pub with exterior signs for Bass, Welbeck Brewery and Flower's of Stratford. I may have missed something, but the expected nautical theme seemed to extend no further than the fake ship's wheel on the glazed front door, the in... [more>]

Not sure what is happening with this place now, as there was no signage when I came to take a photo and it looks like they were in the process of repainting the walls. Perhaps the signs will go back up when the painting is done. More importantly, the... [more>]
