Formulaic Spoons, what you see is what you get, although my ELB Peacock was decent enough, the only reason I found myself here was born of the convenience of being open before other nearby pubs, ordinarily I wouldn't bother.

Tried to visit last night, but it's closed with rubbish strewn all over the car park. The regulars next door in the Bridgewater tell me that it's been bought and is to be converted into flats.

This pub is of course perfectly described by Rex below and unchanged a year on. It tries to do "quirky" but doesn't quite manage to pull it off.Just the two cask beers on, Five Points XPA and Railway Porter, despite the former being in good form the p... [more>]

Large corner pub, opened out inside with a bit of a gastro feel. Ten handpumps on the go and my Five points Pale was decent enough. The pub itself was ,on my visit far to rammed to enjoy.

A single large room, hockey stick shaped, several TV screens were showing the Leyton Orient home game taking place just up the road, at this point I realised my school boy error and soon the early kick off finished and the pub very quickly got mobbed... [more>]

Twelve pumps, with 11 ales and one cider on our Sunday Lunchtime visit. I went for the Salopian Kangaroo, whilst Mrs A went for the Elementary, a collaboration between Ambridge John & Shovel Inn Steve. Both of which were excellent beers and in top co... [more>]

A great name for a bar-cum-restaurant whose menu is chock-a-block full of burgers, hotdogs, wings and ribs, with appropriate sides to match (the Mighty Meat Trays look to be Man vs Food-esque). Opposite the Albion Brewery Bar, this has a small "again... [more>]

There's no real ale here, notwithstanding two unused handpumps in both the saloon and public bars. There was no sign of any food on Saturday afternoon. I had a half of keg Yardbird Pale, at £2.20. This pub is now on CAMRA's Regional Inventory of pub... [more>]

CARD ONLY PAYMENT. This is a craft beer micro-brewery tap tucked away under a railway arch near Brixton Rd, thus doesn't sell real ale. The beers are still helpfully listed on a chalkboard behind the "servery". But unfortunately I didn't have a way o... [more>]
