A traditional Victorian back street pub which hasn't been developed and as kept its original floor plan. There is a small spit-and-sawdust public bar entered from the corner, while a larger saloon bar more appropriate for families is at the side, le... [more>]

Finally managed to make it in, for a prebooked Sunday Lunch. I've walked to this place three times but always out of pub hours. If you find yourself in a similar position, then Hawkeys Cafe is wonderfully old school. Anyway, onto the pub. Small pat... [more>]

A micropub with a couple of tiny rooms that become quite intimate when busy. It seems, going on previous reviews that they stick to the same cask beers in Landlord, Titanic Plum Porter and Charnwood Salvation, I had the later which was fine but not a... [more>]

As previously mentioned a long narrow pub/bar with three handpumps and six craft taps, I had a pint of Eyam Quarantine on cask. Though small the bar is comfortable and worthy of a visit if nearby. Visited Jan 2025.

A red brick corner pub with a curved but angled frontage that catches the eye, inside are two rooms with a bar that services both. Nine handles on the bar serving up beer and cider that being the last pub of the day I failed to make a note of apart f... [more>]

This pub blends in well with the rest of the buildings along the street, similar brickwork and matching upper Georgian windows. The exterior also has bold and colourful signage, one of which reads welcome to platform 6. I thought the barman on our vi... [more>]

This pub was nicely finished throughout with lots of dark timbers, which included a built in clock above the main entrance. The main bar faces you as you enter and continues into the rear lounge. I do agree with BF below about the tiny gents loo, I w... [more>]

Perhaps this pub takes its name from a female pupil from a long defunct Bluecoat school as it seems that this was originally just called the Blue Maid as there are references to the name in the immediate vicinity in the early 18th century, the pub pr... [more>]
