I managed to visit just before this pub closed. Previously The Compass Rose, and shut down several times by the police due to trouble, I was a bit hesitant to come here but it proved rather unadventurous in the event. A modern estate pub next to Mo... [more>]

Open at 11am for a drink, which was good news. But bring your money - £4.85 for Timothy Taylor Landlord. Nice country pub but nothing to justify the costs. Catering (and ripping off) the tourists at Chatsworth, I would imagine.

More or less the same experience as will. Not really a pub - the sign offers fly fishing - but worth experiencing! No till at the bar and I paid my £5.40 (!!!) for a Peak Ales Swift Nick to the receptionist. The beer was in superb condition - eve... [more>]

Surprised to see a Greene King in the Peak District. But this wasnt the only one. Timed it wrong - there was a horrible collection of middle class parent who couldnt keep their kids under control and were running riot. Ban toddlers from pubs now. ... [more>]

Wow! If you're after real ale (and keg stuff if you prefer) then whenever you find yourself in Huddersfield then this is a must visit place. Slightly out of the way and hidden from the town centre. This two roomed pub has at least 19 handpulls spread... [more>]

Another excellent Huddersfield pub. A single room with various set out areas to drink. 13 handpulls (which, after visiting the nearish Grove, seemed to be on the stingey side!) with a number of Rat Brewery beers a couple of Ossett and a variety of ot... [more>]

Formerly a traditional working man’s boozer known as the Woodhouse Tavern it has had a chequered past in recent years and was shut and derelict for a while around 2012 and came perilously close to being pulled down and converted into flats. It got a ... [more>]

This is now one of the Potting shed chain and it also shares the amenities with its sister bar Firepit above. Internal signs say the this is all one place with 2 floors, so there's no need to add Firepit as a separate entry. It's very spacious and ni... [more>]

As I'm committed to visiting their Perth outlet this year I decided to break my boycott of this pub chain. As noted below it's a typical rectangular open plan trendy bar with a wooden floor, an unfinished look and basic furnishings. It was quiet on m... [more>]

I was sitting in the Central Bar JDW and spotted this place just across the road. I recognised the name from the 2019 GBG so thought I would give it a try. As mentioned below it's a smallish rectangular room with a tiled floor and the bar counter on ... [more>]

Having found the Sutton Coldfield branch of this chain a major disappointment three years earlier I wasn't that keen on coming here. As it was only a few yards down the road from the car crash Spoons I gave in. It's a trendy sort of place as noted be... [more>]

I came here completely unplanned after messing up the bus journey to Southsea shops. It's a Fullers pub but I don't recall it ever being a Gales outlet. There are two bars visible as you enter with only the left hand one having hand pumps. It's a typ... [more>]
