A fairly new Greene King purpose-built pub next to, but not really part of, the marina. It’s quite bright and airy inside, and it’s set out as a carvery. There is a reception podium, manned by a very friendly and helpful lady when we visited. Sadl... [more>]

Windows shuttered and the gates were padlocked and chained when we attempted to visit yesterday. It doesn't look like it's been used for a while.

Not open during our time in Southport when we tried to visit. Turns out they're now closed Monday - Wednesday.

Supposed to be open at 4 on Tuesdays, but was shut when we tried at about 5 and again at about 8. I assume it's still open as the A board is still out and they have live music on Friday.

This is the same place as Punch Tarmey's. You can walk from one to the other. Duplicate.

Dating from 1759 and rebuilt in the mid-19th century, this bucks the area’s GK/SS stranglehold for being a McMullen’s ‘boutique hotel’ pub, originally built for Charrington’s. There’s a modern boarded floor with tiled bar apron, the bar being a moder... [more>]

Another late 19th century rebuild and one of at least nine former and current pubs by this name in W1. It’s quite small inside, hence the exclusively tall metal topped furniture. The bar appears modern, with a wire rack gantry; the bar back is modern... [more>]

fairly dire place, I'm afraid. Multi roomed historic pub and reasonably cosy but the decor is all cheap drinks offers and it seems to be trying to be a tacky party place now. Or even worse, a cheap pre-drinks hole for the students. No real ale, rathe... [more>]

There’s a clear pattern that Soho pubs date from the mid/early 18th century to be rebuilt at the end of the 19th, this being no exception, dating from 1900 and grade II-listed. The previous pub I’d visited had also been called the Blue Posts; I bet n... [more>]

Another trans-century rebuild, dating from 1897 for Lacon’s and supposedly the haunt of Shelley, before he eloped with Mary Wollstonecraft, author of Frankenstein; she’d probably like it here as this has had a savage makeover recently and as I’d not ... [more>]

Much as described below, this pub has a merited air of antiquity and warmth to it.I remember it from the early 1970s, when it was a noted source of Whitbread/Fremlins beers direct from the casks stillaged in the area that is now the public bar. More o... [more>]
