Previously the Able Glass glazier's shop, this superb micro was opened at the end of 2016 as the tap for Whitstable Brewery. There is a main bar, Spartan and timber clad as many of these places are, and a small rear lounge with comfortable seating.... [more>]

A pleasant pub tucked a little out of the way, but only a short drive from Malmesbury, like Jon I hadn’t particularly planned on stopping here but the intriguing and unusual name drew me in. A notice on the wall explained that the name came from a Vi... [more>]

A pleasant and traditional looking pub in this attractive village, there is a small beer garden at the front with a few picnic benches. Internally it’s a good size, and whilst there does seem to be quite an emphasis on food, it didn’t strike me as a ... [more>]

Destination pub if you are in Edinburgh. Just over the road from Waverley Station. Absolutely beautiful inside - central bar - high seats all around which can make bar access tricky. Tiled murals to one side - booth seating to the other. Partitio... [more>]

Like two or three places in Toxteth, you would never believe this is a pub from the exterior view. It just looks like any of the other warehouses in the area. Luckily it has "Google View Inside", so you can take a look at the bar showing two handpum... [more>]

An old style backstreet boozer. Situated between Dale St and Victoria St this pub hasn't changed for decades, and it looks like it. 2 floored with the small bar on the ground floor. The seating is basically two U-shaped banquettes, a few barstools pl... [more>]

The Masonic Arms has had a couple of changes since it closed around 2009. It was Marley's for a while and then Jerk Lodge-Jamaican Cuisine in May 2017. I suspect that it is no longer a pub but it may still have a bar.

The view of the rich dark, eccentrically decorated interior shown on "View Inside" of Peter Kavanaghs has tempted me to travel there and see it very soon.

Noticing it has recently obtained Cask Marque certification, I dropped by to investigate to find it has moved a bit more upmarket and lost the pub games, but acquired some better beers. I don't know why people think painting the outside of a pub blac... [more>]
