Not much obvious change here. Seven cask on plus a cider; unfortunately my Rebellion Winter Royal was a tad musty (NBSS 2.5), possibly a victim of the fallow period in between Xmas and New Year. It’s a nice pub, shame my pint wasn’t better. October ... [more>] |

This Spoons is, handily, only a few strides from New Barnet station. It’s an actual pub conversion; however it’s not that great a job done here, a dull bijou frontage with jumbo rear conservatory out back. A surprisingly large amount of guest ales an... [more>] |

A beautiful Art Deco building. Ferociously modern interior but not unpleasant, upmarket rather than tacky - light and bright. It’s mainly a restaurant operation now but there's a drinking area in the left-hand spur. No cask, just one keg of interest,... [more>] |

On approach I wondered if this was even open, as the car showroom-esque exterior wasn’t lit despite the sun having set at least 30 minutes previously. Fortunately it was, so my bus fare hadn’t been wasted. A strange Spoons in that it doesn’t really s... [more>] |

Old skool cosy Timbo Tavern. Burgundy, cream and muted lighting. Some tidy woodwork on the ceiling. Glass inlay pillar cabinets by the bar with model ships contained within - very nice. GBG listed, three guest ales with three ‘coming soon’. My ELB Qu... [more>] |

A long old time since I was last in so thought this would make for a nice finish to my day out coming back from Herts. It remains a nice traditional pub with five ales on. However, it all went downhill rapidly as my choice of Portobello Mayflower was... [more>] |

A very striking building with a pleasingly curved lower exterior, with a pleasingly curved island servery inside to match. Large attractive windows and a few booths as well. Gentle middle-aged and elderly crowd in situ. GBG listed with five guest cas... [more>] |

Standard Spoons all on one level. Not much to shout about here. Had a few screens showing football. Located not far from the station. Not much of a seating area apart from a handful of tables out the front. |

Update: Now demolished ********************************************************* A large detached extended pub/eatery in a peach coloured render with wood framed gables. Recently having re-opened, it has a patio area. The interior has a couple of ro... [more>] |

Most confusing Spoons I've ever been in, from the lack of exterior branding through to the labyrinthine interior; the simple trilogy of having a piss, getting a pint and finding a table must have taken me three laps. There’s a cracking view to be had... [more>] |

Classic old skool interior converted in 1995 from a Tesco - dark varnished wood, green and sandy red colours (surely blue and yellow or purple and green would have been better?). Initially fell apart at the bar with only one two guests in Pride and J... [more>] |

Magnificent Spoons! Sumptuous Edwardian building and an amazing wood-heavy astronomical-themed interior, with a beautiful bar and a splendid pint of small batch Twickenham Ales Cinnamon Swirl (NBSS 4.5) from amongst the six guest ales. Viva Timbo, th... [more>] |

Liverpool Brewing Co Brewery Tap had a handful of locals sat at the U-shaped wooden pallet counter that runs up the right during a recent late Monday afternoon visit. This counter faces padded bench seating and tables up the left and a beer shelf tha... [more>] |

Random stop as I spied the Youngs Winter Warmer amongst the pumps (three on in all). A shadow of the beer it once was and fairly lacklustre on the serve too (NBSS 2.5). Pub itself is a modern scrub-up (quite literally at the bar, which has been crude... [more>] |

Unusual and attractive frontage, Dutch/Flemish inspired. Also an enticing olde worlde-style signage. Didn’t really live-up to the initial promise, the interior is a sideways U shaped interior with a painted-over 60s refurb. One part of the place was ... [more>] |
