Moby Duck left this review about Borough Beer House

A brand new Ale and craft forward pub opening 14th December 2023 from the owners of The Alfred Free House in nearby Upper Hale.
The building is the former 17th c Bailiffs Hall attached to the Town Hall buildings, nowadays all shops or restaurants, however seriously damaged by fire much was rebuilt in the 1930s. In it's brand new guise as an alehouse/ craft bar, there are two floors, downstairs where the bar is at the far end is fairly small and has the natural feel of a micro pub but cosier and more interesting than many, the walls are predominantly of white painted plaster along with some wood panelling, large exposed beams on the ceiling and a large exposed brick chimney breast in the centre of the side wall is home to the extensive beer list, individually hung on mini clipboards. The upstairs seating room is impressive and twice as large as downstairs, size enhanced by the vaulted ceiling and has the feel of a medieval hall, seating is mixed as it is downstairs with much sturdy wooden furniture in evidence.Although the bar is downstairs the beer list is mirrored upstairs on an identical chimney breast, and for those adverse to exercise an informal and optional table service is provided. There are six cask beers available at one time all via hand pump covering the styles from a good variety of brewers, on my last visit these were Electric Bear Inspector Remorse (Porter), Vibrant Forest Pupa (hazy pale), Elusive Lay All Your Glog On Me (red ale), Black Iris Endless Summer (session IPA), Stockport Conkers & Hash (bitter) and Lacons Norfolk Gem (best bitter), all cask are a set price regardless of strength, currently £4.80, eighteen keg taps on the bar divided between three rather neat upright dispensers, a mix of craft beer in all styles , a couple of lagers along with Belgian and German stuff and a couple of Ciders, on top of this there was bag in box Cider from Newton Court, Duddah's Tun, Snails Bank and a Perry from Farmer Jims. Food is simple things like pork pies, scotch eggs , ploughman's and cheese boards.
This place has massively raised the bar in town and certainly a destination pub, if I can find one negative about it, it's that the toilets are upstairs which maybe challenging for some.
After three visits its a 9/10 for me.
