This Rowing Club bar is definitely worth seeking out and is open to non-members. The clubhouse has a large lounge area overlooking the River Tyne, plus an outside balcony. To the rear of the lounge area was a good sized function room.
The bar hosted four handpumps and they had three in use on our visit, serving two from Firebrick Brewery, Stella Spark and Pagan Queen. The third cask ale was Hexhamshire Wall Walker.
All their ales were in excellent shape and priced at £5.10 for a pint and a half. They also serve all day snacks such as pies and bacon rolls. A good double header with the Keelman, only a short distance away.
