A flashy modern bar from the outside, but once through the door it's much more relaxed, with almost a hippy or alternative vibe. The bar counter is at the back, with one hand pump and nine keg taps, which were difficult to read as the pipes were so chunky that the roundels were partly obscured. The pump clip was completely legible, and showed that the beer was brewed less than five miles away at Meanwood brewery. My half of Meanwood Herald was ok but a bit too pineapple-y for my taste. There are three tables each big enough to seat eight or 10 people on benches - these were painted blue and orange. Elsewhere were some high tables and appropriate chairs, and a sort of chill out corner beside the bar, with throw cushions. Some black-painted boards were suspended randomly from the ceiling, and I assume these were sound baffles. There are some tables and seats outside, partly under the overhang of the building, partly with large umbrellas to keep rain off, or whatever might be thrown at you if you are talking too loud. This must be a handy bar for those living in the immediate vicinity, though if I were living here I'd be crossing the river to go to better pubs like the Duck & Drake. (I forgot to ask what the significance of 212 was. Maybe I'll have to go back after all.)
